Color and movement have always been a huge part of my artwork, and I fought against them tooth and nail. I strove for photorealistic art, drab browns, and subtle light, yet COLOR always crept in. I studied anatomy and light, I went to vet tech school, I dove deeply into my love of paleontology and mostly I painted in logical and somber colors and forms. I worked hard to suppress my love of loud colors and the emotions they invoke until finally I loosened the reins and let my art RUN. The ride has been wild and the colors bold! I'm not trying to paint every hair on an animal nor nail the anatomy, I'm trying to capture how it feels to share space with this animal's energy.
